Sufi Faruq has held positions of responsibility in IT at local and foreign companies till 1999-2010. In 2008, at the mere age of 28, he became the first Bangalee to be the chief of IT at a multinational mobile telephone operator. Since 2010, he has been working as a consultant for a number of IT companies (especially on content management, internet service, IT management, IT security), and has been a consultant on many important government and private projects. Apart from this, he has participated in many trainings and seminars at home and abroad as trainer, speaker and panel discussant. Notable among them are South Asian Network Operators’ Group (SANOG) conferences in Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and India’s Mumbai, Conference of Computer Associates in India’s Goa, Huawei Technology conferences in Malaysia, Thailand and China, and IP Workshop organized by Telecom Malaysia and Multimedia University. He’s a regular writer in national dailies including industry research, on IT, manpower and entrepreneurship development. Member of a number of national and international IT organizations, he has made organizational initiatives to establish Bangladesh chapters of quite a few international IT organizations. Aside from academic studies, he has achieved vendor certificates on various products, services and methods, and is a part-time teacher at different universities. Through different initiatives, he is working towards raising mass awareness on IT, its popularization, development of skilled manpower and entrepreneurs in the sector.
